Fireflies MCP

Outcome: You'll have Fireflies connected and can access meeting transcripts directly from Claude Code.

What This Enables

Once connected, you can ask Claude things like:

  • "Pull the transcript from my call with Sarah yesterday"
  • "What action items came out of the team meeting?"
  • "Summarize the key decisions from the client call last week"
  • "Search my recent meetings for discussions about the budget"

Claude pulls transcripts directly from Fireflies—your meeting notes become instantly accessible context.

Setup Steps

Step 1: Get Your Fireflies API Key

  1. Log into Fireflies
  2. Go to Settings → Integrations
  3. Find the API section
  4. Generate or copy your API key

Step 2: Ask Claude to Help

The easiest way to set up an MCP:

"Help me set up the Fireflies MCP. I have my API key ready. Walk me through the configuration."

Claude will:

  1. Check your current MCP configuration
  2. Guide you through adding the Fireflies server
  3. Help you configure the API key securely
  4. Test the connection

Step 3: Verify It Works

Once configured, try a simple query:

"Show me my recent Fireflies transcripts"

If you see your meetings, you're connected.

Common Uses

What You NeedExample Prompt
Meeting summary"Summarize the key points from my call with [Name] on [Date]"
Action items"What action items came out of the team meeting yesterday?"
Decision tracking"What decisions were made in my meetings this week?"
Context for work"Here's the Fireflies transcript from the client call: [pull it]. Now create a follow-up email."

The Power Move: Transcripts as Context

This is where Fireflies + Claude Code really shines.

Old workflow:

  1. Have a meeting
  2. Go to Fireflies
  3. Copy the transcript
  4. Paste into Claude
  5. Ask your question

New workflow:

  1. Have a meeting
  2. Ask Claude: "Pull the transcript from my call with [Name] and [do the thing]"

The transcript becomes instant context for any task: writing follow-ups, creating summaries, extracting requirements, building documents.

Troubleshooting

"I can't connect"

  • Double-check your API key is correct
  • Make sure your Fireflies plan includes API access
  • Ask Claude to help diagnose: "The Fireflies MCP isn't connecting. Can you help me troubleshoot?"

"I don't see recent meetings"

  • There might be a sync delay
  • Check that your meetings are being recorded in Fireflies

Hands-On: Analyze a Transcript

Once connected, try this workflow:

  1. Find a recent meeting in Fireflies
  2. Ask Claude:

"Pull the transcript from my meeting with [Name] on [Date]. Give me:

  • A one-paragraph summary
  • Key decisions made
  • Action items with owners
  • Any open questions that need follow-up"
  1. Review the output
  2. Save it to a notes file for future reference

This is the kind of task that used to take 20 minutes of manual work. Now it takes 30 seconds.
