Teamwork MCP
Outcome: You'll have Teamwork connected and can access project data directly from Claude Code.
What This Enables
Once connected, you can ask Claude things like:
- "What tasks are assigned to me in the Marketing project?"
- "Show me the timeline for the Q1 launch"
- "What's the status of the website redesign project?"
- "List all overdue tasks across my projects"
Claude pulls the data directly from Teamwork—no copy-pasting, no switching tabs.
Setup Steps
Step 1: Get Your Teamwork API Key
- Log into Teamwork
- Go to your profile settings
- Find the API section
- Generate or copy your API key
Step 2: Ask Claude to Help
The easiest way to set up an MCP:
"Help me set up the Teamwork MCP. I have my API key ready. Walk me through the configuration."
Claude will:
- Check your current MCP configuration
- Guide you through adding the Teamwork server
- Help you configure the API key securely
- Test the connection
Step 3: Verify It Works
Once configured, try a simple query:
"List my projects in Teamwork"
If you see your projects, you're connected.
Common Uses
| What You Need | Example Prompt |
|---|---|
| Task overview | "What tasks are due this week across all my Teamwork projects?" |
| Project status | "Give me a status summary of the [Project Name] project" |
| Team workload | "Who has the most tasks assigned in the Marketing project?" |
| Timeline check | "What milestones are coming up in the next 30 days?" |
Troubleshooting
"I can't connect"
- Double-check your API key is correct
- Make sure you have the right permissions in Teamwork
- Ask Claude to help diagnose: "The Teamwork MCP isn't connecting. Can you help me troubleshoot?"
"I don't see all my projects"
- Your API key might only have access to certain projects
- Check your Teamwork permissions
Next Steps
Once Teamwork is working, you can:
- Combine it with your prompts: "Using my Teamwork data, create a status report for this week"
- Pull project context into research tasks
- Track your work without leaving VS Code
